ADLER, Mary Dorothea. Housewife and Communal worker. Born Cape Town, 24th May, 1905, daughter of Raphael and Mussa Oshry. Executive member of S.A. Zionist Federation since 1950 and an Honorary Officer since 1961. Chairman of Information Department for eight years. Member of S.A. Women's Zionist Council since 1950, now President. Chairman, Union of Jewish Women (Johannesburg) 1946-48; Vice-President, Union of Jewish Women (Headquarters) 1947-49; Chairman, Johannesburg Women's Zionist League, 1950-1953. Executive member, S.A. Jewish Board of Deputies since 1951. During World War II was regular Red Cross worker and received badge for her war service; was only woman on Business Liaison Committee of Governor General's War Fund. Married Dr. Joseph Henry Adler, 1944; two sons. Add.: 22, Glenhove Road, Melrose Estate, Johannesburg.
