OPPENHEIMER, Sir Ernest, Kt., M.L.A. for Kimberley. Chairman, Anglo American Corporation of South Africa, Ltd. Born in 1880. Came to South Africa in 1902. Married in 1906 to Mary Lina Pollak; has two children. Sir Ernest is a prominent Member of the South African Party, and also takes an active interest in Jewish affairs; he was recently instrumental, together with Lady Oppenheimer, in assisting to raise the sum of fifteen thousand pounds (£15,000) to pay off the remaining bond on the Johannesburg Jewish Guild.
