CARN, Israel, Turf Accountant. Born in London in 1861. Educated at Jewish Free School, London. Came to South Africa in 1896. Generous contributor to all Jewish causes; offered donation of £1,000 to Gardens Synagogue, of which £500 was accepted, the other £500 not being required owing to bond being paid off.
