ESAKOV, Solomon, Merchant. Born in Poshvetin, Lithuania, in 1870, and educated there. Came to South Africa in 1890. Married in 1905 to Fanny Berkowitz; has six children. First Jewish Town Councillor of Witbank, 1907-1912; Founder, Witbank Hebrew Congregation: President of same, 1913-1915; also Vice-President and Hon. Treasurer for a number of years.
