TRAUB, Elias. Born Beaufort West 12th July, 1905. son of Isaac and Eva Traub. Educated at Beaufort West. Town Councillor, Worcester Municipality, for 25 years and Mayor 7 terms. Member of Cape Province Municipal Association Executive for five years. Member, Worcester Hospital Board and Technical College Council. Former Hon. Secretary of the Worcester Chamber of Commerce for 13 years. Committee member, former Hon. Secretary, Worcester Hebrew Congregation and represents it on Cape Council of the S.A. Jewish Board of Deputies. Committee member, Worcester Zionist Society. During World War II served as Hon. Defence Liaison Officer and Hon. Secretary of the Governor-General's War Fund.
