MARCUS, Morris Gerald. (Died 1966.) Insurance and Property Broker. Born Kovno, Lithuania, July, 1892, son of Chaim Mordecai and Sarah Kraile Marcus. Educated in Lithuania at Slabodka and Kovno Yeshivot. Came to South Africa 1912. Served as Minister to Tulbagh Hebrew Congregation, 1913; teacher at Doornfontein Hebrew School, 1914-16. Member of the Bikkur Cholim Society since 1934; Deputy to S.A. Jewish Board of Deputies; member of the Central Committee of the Israeli United Appeal; founder of the Yeoville and Eastern Hebrew Benevolent Society and Gmiluth Chesed. Married Reizel Levin, 1914; two sons, one daughter.
