Educated at South African College School and University of Cape Town. Former member of Parliament for Florida, Transvaal. Director of various companies. Member of Board of Trustees of Air Force Housing Memorial, Johannesburg. President of Johannesburg Coronation Foundation ("Queenshaven Aged Peoples' Village). Mayor of Johannesburg 1952-1953; member of the Provincial Council for Bezuidenhout, 1954-58. Former Executive member, S.A. Jewish Board of Deputies. Former Chairman, Johannesburg Branch, S.A. Jewish Ex-Servicemen's League, and former member of its National Executive. Former Chairman, Beth Hamedrash Hagodol. Former Hon. Secretary, Witwatersrand Jewish Aged Home, and Life Committee member of the Home. Served with the S.A. Air Force during World War II; rank, Lieutenant. Married Ethel Levy, 1928; two daughters.
