Klipin, Abe Bernard


KLIPIN, Abe Bernard. Director of Companies. Born Buenos Aires, Argentine, 25th August, 1892, son of Lazar and Pauline Klipin. Came to South Africa 1896. Educated in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Director of Clyde Trading Co. Ltd., Clyde Trading Holdings Ltd., Union Carriage & Wagon Co. Ltd., and various other companies. Vice-President, S.A. Jewish Board of Deputies, on the Executive Council of which he has served for 30 years, and of which he has been an Hon. Officer in various capacities for over 20 years. One of the founders and National President of the S.A. Jewish Ex-Service League. Hon. Life President of the S.A. Jewish Orphanage. Served with the South African Forces in World War I, and was Captain of the National Volunteer Brigade in World War II. Married the late Sarah Lewison in 1920; one son, two daughters.
