HERDAN, Richard. M. Sc. (Mech. Eig.). M.Sc. (El. Eng.). (Died 1966). Director of Companies. Born Brno, Czechoslovakia, 20th September, 1900, son of Dr. Maximilan and Bertha Herdan. Educated at Universities of Brno, Prague and Vienna. Came to South Africa 1938. Previously Chairman and Managing Director to Skodaworks South Africa (Pty.) Ltd. Past President, B'nai B'rith Lodge, Johannesburg. His widow, Hannah Herdan (nee Teltsher), whom he married in 1933 and who is a Sworn Translator, was born in Nikolsburg (Mikulov), which had, next to Prague, the oldest Kehillah in the former Austro-Hungarian Monarchy; her family founded the Jewish Museum there, the only one outside Prague in the Czechoslovakian Republic. Mrs. Herdan and the late Mr. Herdan have one son and one daughter.
