KAGAN, Isaie Joseph. B.A., LL.B. Executive Director, Federation of Synagogues of the Transvaal, O.F.S. and Natal. Born Kowno, Lithuania, 31st October, 1906, son of Chaim Rubin and Pesse Leah Kagan. Educated at Yeshivoth of Ponevez and Wilkomir; Hebrew Gymnasium, Jurburg; and Universities of Paris and Witwatersrand. Came to South Africa 1929. Practised as an Attorney before assuming present position. Former Executive member, S.A. Board of Jewish Education and S.A. Jewish Board of Deputies. Past Chairman, Histadruth Ivrith and Oxford Synagogue. Past Vice- Chairman, Federation of Synagogues. Member of Jewish Guild Country Club. Married Thelma Joffe, 1933; two sons.
