KAGANAS, Henry. B.Sc. (Eng.), B.Sc. (Hon.). M.I.Struct.E., A.M.S.A.I.C.E., M.R.S.H. Engineer (Died 1967) Born Ponevez, Lithuania, 15th May, 1909, son of Aaron and Sarah Kaganas. Educated at Hebrew Gymnasium, Ponevez, Universities of Kaunas, Lithuania, and Caen, France. Came to South Africa 1936. Since Chief Engineer and Manager of the Rein- forced Concrete Department of W.I.S.P.E.Co. since 1941. In this capacity introduced a special type of high tensile steel in South Africa, now widely used in the building industry. Director of a number of property companies. Previously was a lecturer in Mathematics at the University of Caen, France, and lecturer in Physics at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. Married Sarah Lichter, 1943; two daughters.
