CHAITOW, Max. Attorney. Born Lutzin, Latvia, 25th October, 1904, son of Charles and Bertha Chaitow. Came to South Africa 1913. Educated at Pilgrims Rest Primary School, Pretoria Boys' High School, University of the Witwatersrand (extramural). Town Councillor, Pietersburg, 1944-46. Hon. Life President, Pietersburg Hebrew Congregation, President 1962-64, Secretary 1956-60, Vice-President 1960-62, Committee Member 1964 to date; Member, Lions International, Pietersburg Golf Club. Served in World War II on the National Volunteer Reserve (Commissioned as Lieutenant, 1940-45). Married Irene Finestone, 20th September, 1930; two sons. Recreation: Golf.
