Educated at Real-Gymnasium, Stettin Technical High School, Stuttgart, and University of Cape Town. Vice-Chairman, Port Elizabeth Progressive Jewish Congregation; member of Eastern Province Committee of the S.A. Jewish Board of Deputies. Committee member, S.A. Jewish Ex-Service League. Vice-President, Eastern Province Society for Arts and Crafts. Member of the Wedgewood Club. During World War II served in S.A. Engineers Corps in North African campaign, taken prisoner of war, 1942-44, and exchanged through Red Cross, invalided out of army. Recreations: Drawing, painting, theatre, all arts.
